Meet the Management

SIDREC’s Management Team

SIDREC’s management team is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of its service who are accountable to the board of directors. The team proposes and manages the organisation’s budget; oversee the execution of strategy and commitments; ensure effective and efficient operations; and manages responses to risks.

Sharmila Sharma

Chief Executive Officer

Sharmila Sharma was appointed as SIDREC CEO effective 2 December 2019. She practised as an advocate and solicitor for a short period before working in human rights for five years with the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (SUHAKAM) and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Since then, she has had over 10 years of experience in Sustainable Finance/Investments having worked as an analyst, researcher and manager in corporate, financial and investment strategy with several organisations.

She was a key member of the Secretariat to the Financial Services Professional Board (FSPB) in 2014/15 where she led the development of the FSPB Code of Ethics for the Financial Services Industry.

Prior to joining SIDREC, she was the Head of Strategy, Mergers & Acquisitions of Cenergi SEA Sdn Bhd, a subsidiary of Khazanah Nasional Berhad that invests in and develops renewable energy and energy efficiency projects.

Sharmila holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and Law from the University of Durham. She has been called to the Bar of England & Wales and the Malaysian Bar. She has also completed all three levels of the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) examinations.

Wong Su Kuin

Head of Operations

Wong Su Kuin commenced her career as a private law practitioner for 10 years prior to joining the financial services industry. During her tenure with the financial services industry, she  managed the corporate trust and agency business for 7 years, primarily supporting corporate bonds, project financing, syndicated financing, escrow arrangement and initial public offerings. Thereafter, she joined the financial crime compliance function supporting the corporate institutional, markets and securities services business for 7 years. She has spent more than 10 years working in Singapore prior to relocating back to Malaysia recently.

Su Kuin holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from University of London and was admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 1996.

Zoe Rai

Head of Strategy and Communication

Zoe Rai is a public relations professional with over 25 years’ experience in private and public sector communications, stakeholder and crisis management.

Zoe served in Bank Negara Malaysia as a media relations officer and as executive assistant to the then Governor. He has also served at the Bank of International Settlements in Basel Switzerland. As a communications specialist, he designed, implemented and executed various comprehensive nationwide communication programmes for the Central Bank, ranging from policy changes, awareness campaigns and initiatives to financial literacy and education.

Zoe has also been a professional Chef, chocolatier, and pastry chef since 2014 and restaurateur from 2019 to 2020.

Zoe holds an MA in International Business from the University of Central Lancashire, BA in Marketing Middlesex University, a Diploma in Advertising from Lim Kok Wing, and graduated culinary school at the Le Cordon Bleu, Adelaide and Savour School Melbourne, Australia, for chocolate and pastry.
