Malaysia Investment and Stock Exchange Expo (MISEE) 2015 at PWTC, KL (20-22 November 2015)

SIDREC had another busy weekend, this time with Malaysia Investment and Stock Exchange Expo (MISEE) 2015 at Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur. As part of the market development efforts, Islamic Capital Market of Bursa Malaysia together with Persatuan Pelabur Strategik Melayu Malaysia co-organized MISEE 2015.  The objective was to re-ignite the passion of investing in the stock market while providing knowledge about other investment instruments, as well as to increase awareness, and educate retail public in investing in the stock market and other means of financial investment.

With the growing Islamic Finance sector and the demand for Shariah-compliant products and services, MISEE 2015 themed, “Shariah Investing”, focused on investment in Shariah-compliant instruments to provide the retail public with awareness and education in Islamic capital market products. The event was held for three (3) days from 20th to 22nd November 2015.  Exhibitors included public listed companies, Islamic financial institutions, Islamic unit trust managers and fund managers, and Takaful operators, Securities Commission (SC), SIDREC, Federation of Investment Managers Malaysia (FIMM), Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM), Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), and Minority Shareholders Watchdog Group (MSWG).

Aishara Abdul Rahim, SIDREC’s Senior Case Manager, was one of the notable speakers who shared on SIDREC’s role in resolving disputes in connection with capital market products and services. Some 50 undergraduates from Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM), Nilai and Politeknik Ibrahim Sultan, Johor Bahru were keen to learn about SIDREC and its services, made accessible to retail investors as part of the investor protection framework in the capital market.
